From Burnout to Balance: How Hypnotherapy Helps You Find Yourself Again

You may have seen that April is designated as Stress Awareness Month by an organisation called the Stress Management Society (https://www.stress.org.uk/) As a hypnotherapist I think this is a really helpful area to shine some light onto, it’s probably the root cause of 90% of the issues that my clients seek help for, and it responds really well to Hypnotherapy. To put it into context, ‘Anxiety’ is frequently the most searched for topic in the Hypnotherapy Directory.
One of the areas I’m passionate about addressing is work-related stress, and this is an area that is showing a worrying rise; according to Mental Health First Aid England, in 2024 a whopping 79% of UK employees reported moderate to high stress levels, with these highest in younger employees and women. 63% were showing signs of burnout such as exhaustion and disengagement and 25% felt unable to cope with their workplace stress and needed more support. We often hear about the cost of work-related stress to employers, and the HSE give statistics showing 16.4 million working days were lost to stress in 2023/4. While this is a shockingly high number, it’s really important to remember that behind every one of these statistics is a person who’s struggling to cope.
I’m in my 50s now and would genuinely struggle to think of someone I know who hasn’t been affected by work-related stress, including myself. Often this has led to time off work, and sometimes to job or career changes as people attempt to get their lives back on track, but this comes at a huge cost. They’re often trying to make these life-changing decisions at a time when they feel very low, their confidence has disappeared and other areas of their lives are being affected, including relationships, finances and social connections. We often think of this as being ‘not ourselves’.
As a Solution-Focused Hypnotherapist I combine hypnosis with elements of talking therapy and explanations of what’s happening in our brains. I find that most clients find this immediately reassuring; knowing you’re not the only one who feels this way and that it can be changed is the first step to getting ‘you’ back. I offer a relaxing recording to listen to at night between sessions, and this helps to improve sleep, an area which is frequently impacted by stress. After a course of treatment sessions, clients start to feel able to make good decisions again, regaining confidence, energy and positivity. It’s wonderful to see!
If you’re affected by work-related, or any other form of stress, or just feel like you’ve lost ‘you’ get in touch. I offer a free, no-obligation telephone conversation so you can see whether you think Hypnotherapy could help, and if I’m the right therapist for you.
All the best,

Great blog. Work and stress often come hand in hand. The work load is, either too much or too little and struggling for balance. Money pressures. Juggling home life and work. And you're so right, many of us make life-changing work decisions when we're not being ourselves. Dani
