Frequently Asked Questions
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a modern brain based therapeutic approach that integrates solution focused psychotherapy techniques, current neuroscience research, and hypnosis to support positive change. It is important to acknowledge that client commitment and the desire to change is required and that individual results/success may vary and cannot be guaranteed.

Can I be Hypnotised against my will?
No, Hypnosis is just a state of very deep relaxation, so if you don’t want to be hypnotised, you won’t relax! The stage hypnosis we sometimes see relies on the participants willingness and desire to ‘play along’.
Can I get ‘stuck’ in trance?
No, you will not be unconscious, and so you are able to come out of the trance easily at the end of the session. Sometimes you might want to stay there as it’s such a lovely feeling to be so relaxed! But you will respond to the cues offered by your therapist to open your eyes and return to awareness.

Will I be alright to drive after a Hypnotherapy session?
Yes, you’ll be fine to drive, after the session there won’t be any side effects, you’ll just be more relaxed!
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the issue you’re seeking help for. Many conditions respond well to 6-8 sessions, but some conditions may need more, and some things can be done in less. Smoking for example is usually done in 1 or 2 sessions.

Isn’t it all a bit ‘mumbo-jumbo’?
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is actually based in Neuroscience. We use the latest techniques and developments in understanding how our brains work to effect emotional and behaviour change.
